#04 Burler Tool - Engine Turn Swirl Burnisher for Precious Metals (2-1/2") - W&B Gold Leaf
This is #04 Burler Tool — an engine-turning tool that cuts swirl patterns into gilded surfaces. Engine turning breaks up the flat gold with overlapping arcs that catch the light as you move past the work.
Work over fully sized and dried leaf with light, even pressure in overlapping rows. Practice the pattern on scrap gilding first — the rhythm matters more than the force.
Use it for oil gilding with slow or quick size on picture frames, mirrors, and furniture. Engine-turned gold is the finish clients notice on frames, panels, and architectural detail.
Wipe down after use and store dry. Replace consumables before they fail mid-job — running out halfway through a gilding session costs more than the refill.
