2-1/4" Gilding Wheel - For use with Non-Precious Roll Leaf - Precious Roll Leaf
This is 2-1/4" Gilding Wheel — an engine-turning tool that cuts swirl patterns into gilded surfaces. Engine turning breaks up the flat gold with overlapping arcs that catch the light as you move past the work.
Work over fully sized and dried leaf with light, even pressure in overlapping rows. Practice the pattern on scrap gilding first — the rhythm matters more than the force.
Use it for sign painting and pictorial gilding on musical instruments and decorative objects. Engine-turned gold is the finish clients notice on frames, panels, and architectural detail.
Wipe down after use and store dry. Replace consumables before they fail mid-job — running out halfway through a gilding session costs more than the refill.
