Sinopia Wet Clay Bole Traditional French Red 4oz - Ideal for Water Gilding Frames
This product is designed for use as clay bole in the water gilding process, especially for framing applications.
Water gilding, an intricate art form, thrives when executed on a firm wooden canvas. The gentle nature of gesso and bole layers renders this technique unsuitable for flexible surfaces like canvas or paper. While water gilding has been occasionally employed in specific sections of illuminated manuscripts, its application calls for additional meticulous steps. Despite the labor-intensive process involved in preparing gesso, the ultimate result justifies the dedication. The unparalleled satisfaction of experiencing the silky-smooth, highly absorbent finish achieved with a traditional chalk ground sets it apart from any other gesso.
This product, Sinopia Wet Clay Bole Traditional French Red 4oz, caters specifically to the requirements of water gilding, making it an excellent choice for frame applications.
