Gilding Mop - Pure Black Ox Hair (Size #20) - German - Klein & Jacob - Klein & Jacob This is Gilding Mop — a gilder's mop for skewing (pressing leaf into place) and dusting off skewings. The soft full head presses leaf home without scratching and sweeps away the excess cleanly. Skew with light pressure once the leaf is laid — the mop presses the leaf into the size and picks up what didn't stick. Tap out the mop often so loose skewings don't land back on the work. Use it for water gilding over gesso and clay on signs, panels, and dimensional letters. Every leaf gilder reaches for the mop a dozen times a job. Never store a brush resting on its point. Hang or lay flat, keep out of direct heat, and never leave soaking — soaking swells the ferrule and ruins the set of the hair. Details
