Gold Leaf Kit, Starter Oil

The Starter oil gilding kit — the Basic kit plus the two tools that make laying leaf cleaner and easier.

It includes everything in the Basic Oil kit (Handover goose quill, 8 oz Dux oil size, and a book of Manetti 23kt gold leaf) plus a gilder's tip and a dusting mop. The tip lets you pick up and place the leaf more accurately instead of relying only on the quill. The dusting mop is used to gently press the leaf down and remove loose pieces after it has been laid.

This is the kit most people should start with if they already know the basic oil method and want better control. Brush the size on, wait for tack, lay the leaf with the tip, and burnish it down with the mop. When you're ready for more leaf, larger size, and additional tools, the Standard kit is the next step.

• Gilder's Dusting Mop Brush, series RP8 size 10 — for pressing the leaf down and cleaning loose pieces

Customer supplies their own cotton and varnish if needed.
