The German-American penman’s compendium, as an instant download.

Herhold’s Compendium of Modern Penmanship (1894) by Gustav F. Herhold gathers the German-American penman’s modern method — precise, disciplined penmanship with Old World thoroughness. A distinctive voice in the American penmanship chorus.

Inside this 1894 handbook:

Gustav F. Herhold’s 1894 system builds the hand from the ground up: muscular-movement drills, then business penmanship. Calligraphers and lettering artists still mine books like this for flourishes and letterforms no modern manual teaches.
