are the first Lead-Free Lettering Enamel on the market. It is an
extremely high hiding, high gloss enamel specially formulated to meet
the requirements of the sign industry for an easy working, one stroke
enamel. It is designed to have excellent flow, dry to a clean edge and
to leave no brush marks. Preferred for smaller scale signage and
applications that require hand lettering. Available in half-pints,
pints, quarts and gallons.

Billboard Bulletin Enamel

- Ronan Bulletin Billboard Colors
are high quality, high gloss, lead free enamels specially formulated
for use on signs and billboards. Preferred for larger scale signage,
Bulletin Colors are designed for painting backgrounds, lettering copy
and graphics. One coat coverage, fast dry, fast cut in and extreme high
gloss produce a dazzling, weather resistant finish. Recommended for use
on outdoor advertising billboards, metal highway signs, commercial
signs. All types of wood, Masonite, masonry and metal surfaces. Other
uses include above-water marine and industrial applications where
premium full gloss enamel is required. As a finish coat on all interior
or exterior wood, metal, aluminum, galvanized metal, concrete and
masonry surfaces, Fiberglas and many synthetics; any surface that calls
for a high performance architectural coating.

are lead free, ready to use, flat colors formulated for use on poster
paper, cardboard, wood, and metal signs. They are water resistant and
may be used as an interior or temporary exterior finish. Ron-Art Poster
Colors dry to a velvet smooth, flat finish that will not wrinkle the
finest of papers. Available in black and white only.

are solvent-based lead free flat colors formulated for the graphics
arts industry. They are designed for use on properly primed white
substrates that require high visibility paint such as signs, painted

on wood, steel, canvas, vinyl, plastic and glass. Note: The light
fastness of fluorescent color is limited. Light fastness and durability

is a waterborne acrylic Bulletin
Enamel, low odor, high gloss, solid covering, formulated for graphic arts and maintenance applications. It is
lead free, fast drying, easy brushing, environmentally friendly, VOC
compliant and easy clean up. It produces a durable, flexible, weather
resistant finish and exhibits excellent adhesion to wood, steel,
concrete, galvanized metal, aluminum and treated or untreated vinyl. It
is recommended for painting backgrounds, lettering copy and graphics on
signs, outdoor advertising billboards, metal highway signs, commercial
signs and vinyl banners. Metal structures must be primed with Ronan
Prime Lock DTM Primer.

is a water based, lead free, daylight fluorescent coating with built in
ultra violet protection formulated for the graphics arts industry. It
dries to a bright fluorescent, flexible, weather & fade resistant,
velvet finish and exhibits excellent adhesion to wood, metal, treated
vinyl and many other substrates. Aqua Ron-Glo can be used on any
interior or exterior properly primed white substrate that requires a
high visibility paint, such as, signs, painted bulletins, exhibits,
safety & aviation markings etc. Non-Flammable, non-toxic when cured,
low odor.

nacreous pigments to yield a lustrous metallic look. It dries to a
flexible, weather and fade resistant, bright metallic like finish and
exhibits excellent adhesion to wood, metal, treated and untreated vinyl
and many other substrates. Aqua Leaf can be used on any interior or
exterior properly primed white substrate. Used by furniture and cabinet
re-finishers and interior decorators for a variety of decorative

Ronan Sign Painters Primers and Block-out - Solvent based
Sign Primer Fast Dry Block-out White
- Fast Dry Block-out White
is a fast drying, high opacity, solvent reducible alkyd primer designed
to "block out" previously painted sign faces. It is also an excellent
primer for wood and M.D.O. board. It dries with a flat finish and is
designed to prepare a surface for the application of bulletin colors,
background enamels or artists oil color. Fast Dry Block-out White blocks
out the old bulletin or pictorial and primes the surface so that new
signs or artwork will adhere and cover properly. It also provides the
proper surface for carbon pouncing or felt tip layout of artwork.

Stick-tite Sign Primers for Metal & Wood Primer - White - Solvent based

White Metal & Wood Primer is a fast drying, high opacity, solvent
reducible alkyd primer designed for use on metal, wood and M.D.O. board. It
may also be used as a primer for properly prepared galvanized metal. It
dries with a low luster finish and is designed to prepare a surface for
the application of bulletin colors, background enamels or artists oil
color.
- Dry Time: @ 70 F; 50% Relative Humidity: Dries to touch - 30
to 45 minutes; to handle - 2 hours; to re-coat - 4 to 5 hours. Full cure -
16 hours. Will take longer to dry under colder or more humid
conditions.

Metal Primer - Universal
- Universal Metal Primer, a
fast drying, high performance, rust inhibitive, phenolated alkyd primer
that exhibits excellent adhesion and penetration. It is designed to
meet sign, industrial and automotive application needs. A unique primer,
this product may be top-coated with virtually any paint system,
including Bulletin Color, Background Enamel, lacquers, acrylic enamels,
synthetic enamels as well as two component urethanes and epoxies.
Recommended for use as a primer over a variety of aluminum, steel,
galvanized metal, wood and concrete surfaces. Available in White, Gray
and Red Oxide.

Sign Painting Primers - Water Based
All-Primer-Acrylic-Waterborne

is a unique, interior-exterior, waterborne, acrylic primer that
combines fast dry convenience with outstanding adhesion, sealing, stain
blocking, corrosion resisting and weathering properties. This high
performance coating exhibits excellent adhesion to aged steel, wood,
aged galvanized metal, weathered aluminum, M.D.O. plywood, conventional
plywood, cement, Fiberglas, concrete, plastic, ceramic, flexible vinyl
and glass substrates. Its stain killing properties check bleeding of
water stains, smoke damage, wood tannin, asphalt stains, crayon and most
graffiti. It is formulated for use as a primer over unpainted or
previously painted surfaces; as a block-out for signs; for blocking out
stains (it prevents the bleeding of reds, fluorescent and other staining
pigments); as an undercoat for water and oil based topcoats. Available
in White and Red Oxide.

Prime-Lock DTM Primer

Lock DTM Primer is a unique, corrosion resistant, waterborne, 100%
acrylic primer formulated for use on difficult to adhere to metal &
plastic surfaces. This high performance coating exhibits excellent
adhesion to steel, galvanized metal, aluminum, zinc aluminum, baked
aluminum, tin, rigid PVC and other plastic surfaces. Acid treatment is
not necessary for adhesion to galvanized metal or aluminum. Available in
White and Grey.
- Dry Time: @ 70 F. and 50% Relative Humidity: Dries
to touch - 30 minutes; to handle - 2 hours; to re-coat - 8 hours (for
aromatic based top coats let dry 24 hours before recoating). Will take

Vinyl Primer "Metro-Prime"

Vinyl Primer is a waterborne flexible acrylic coating formulated for
use as a primer for vinyl. It combines fast dry convenience with
outstanding adhesion, sealing and stain blocking properties. It acts as a
barrier/tie coat for vinyl and prevents plasticizer migration (and thus
prevents the drying and adhesion problems that migration cause). It
prepares the vinyl for top coating with Bulletin Colors and other oil
and water based paints. Metro Vinyl Primer is also designed for use as a
block-out for previously painted vinyl signs and computer generated
vinyl signs. It is recommended for blocking out stains (checks the
bleeding of reds, fluorescent and other staining pigments) and for use
as an undercoat for water and oil based topcoats.

Vinyl-Cote Primer Flat

Cote Flat is a durable, water-based, acrylic clear coating formulated
for use as a primer and topcoat for untreated vinyl and painted vinyl
signs, banners, awnings and bulletins. It dries to a flexible, weather
resistant finish and exhibits excellent adhesion to treated and
untreated vinyl and many other substrates. When applied as a primer on
untreated vinyl it prevents plasticizer migration and the adhesion and
drying problems caused by migration. It prepares the vinyl for top
coating with Bulletin Colors and other oil and water based paints. Vinyl
Cote Flat is also formulated for use as a topcoat over conventional oil
and water based finishes and on a variety of different substrates
(wood, glass, plastic and many synthetics). Cures to a clear,
non-yellowing, flat finish and therefore can be used directly on
pictures, murals, portraits and vinyl graphics without altering the
colors.

Clear Coatings
Important!! Before using clear topcoats, perform a patch test
- to test adhesion
- to determine if the clear causes any cracking or lifting of the surface coating
- to determine that the clear gives the desired finish. (It is especially important to test for clarity over colors).

Clear Coatings Solvent Based
Acrylic Clear Overcoat
- Acrylic Clear Overcoat
is a solvent based, fast drying, acrylic clear topcoat specially
formulated to provide long lasting protection to painted surfaces. This
coating is designed for use as a topcoat on painted signs and bulletins.
Resists yellowing, oxidization, checking and cracking. It is also ideal
for renewing faded signs. This coating should not be used on raw wood
or any surface, which will come in contact with solvents or harsh
cleaning agents (vehicles, motorcycles, windows). Do not use over Gold
Leaf. For automotive vehicles and motorcycles use Aquathane Gloss. Do
not use Acrylic Clear Overcoat on vinyl signs. For vinyl signs or
letters use Vinyl Cote. Ronan Acrylic Clear Overcoat is available in
gloss.

Ron-Glo UV Absorber

is a solvent based, fast drying, acrylic clear topcoat specially
formulated to provide ultraviolet ray protection to any painted surface.
This UV inhibiting coating is designed for use as a topcoat on painted
signs and bulletins where resistance to the effects of long-term
exposure to sunlight and weather is a requirement. It helps prevent
color degradation by reducing the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays,
which cause premature fading. It is ideal for use over fluorescent
colors to prolong color retention. Resists yellowing, oxidization,
checking and cracking. This coating should not be used on raw wood or
any surface, which will come in contact with solvents or harsh cleaning
agents (vehicles, motorcycles, windows). Do not use over Gold Leaf. For
automotive vehicles and motorcycles use Aquathane UV Gloss. Do not use
Ron-Glo UV Absorber on vinyl signs. For vinyl signs use Vinyl Cote UV
Absorber. Ron-Glo UV Absorber is available in gloss.

will be achieved with Acrylic Clear Overcoat or Ronan UV Absorber.

- Vinyl Cote
is a water-based, acrylic clear coating formulated for use as a

dries to a flexible, weather resistant finish and exhibits excellent

is similar in properties to Vinyl Cote Gloss (see above); but in
addition, is specially formulated to provide extra ultraviolet ray
protection. It is designed for use as a topcoat where resistance to the
effects of exposure to sunlight and weather is a requirement. It helps
prevent color degradation by reducing the harmful effects of ultraviolet
rays, which cause premature fading. It is ideal for use over
fluorescent colors to prolong color retention. Do not use over Gold
Leaf. Can be applied as a protective overcoat on vinyl signs without the
problems associated with solvent based ultraviolet absorber topcoats.
Can be used wherever a water based, non-yellowing, weather and
ultraviolet resistant coating is required. Available in flat, satin or
gloss.

is a high quality single component water based aliphatic urethane
formulated for use as a protective topcoat clear over Graphic Arts work
when resistance to the effects of long-term exposure to sunlight,
weather and chemicals is a requirement. It dries to a durable, flexible
finish that is abrasion, weather, gasoline, chemical and ultraviolet
resistant. Aquathane UV Absorber exhibits excellent adhesion treatment
and untreated vinly, wood, coated metal, plastic and many other
substrates. When properly applied it cures to a "water white",
non-yellowing finish and therefore can be used directly on signs,
murals, portraits and vinyl graphics. It is ideal for floors. Do not use
over Gold Leaf. Non-Flammable, low odor. Avialable in flat, satin, semi
gloss or gloss.

is an extremely durable, water-based, clear urethane clear coating
formulated for use as a protective topcoat over wood surfaces where

is a requirement. It contains both ultraviolet absorbers and hindered
amine light stabilizers for maximum UV light protection. It dries to a
durable, non-yellowing, flexible finish that is abrasion, weather, and
ultraviolet resistant. Formulated for use as an interior or exterior
protective topcoat over wood cabinets, doors, tables, floors and other
wood furnishings. Do not use over Gold Leaf. Non-Flammable, non-toxic
when cured, low odor. Available in flat, satin, semi gloss or gloss.

topcoat specially formulated for use over Aqua Leaf™ when extra

cures to a flexible, washable finish. It helps prevent degradation by
reducing the effects of harmful untraviolet rays which cause premature
fading. It can be used to topcoat murals. Do not use over Gold Leaf.

Clear Lock UV

Clear Lock UV is an extremely durable, water-based, clear urethane
copolymer Graphic Arts coating. It is formulated for use as a protective
topcoat over computer generated pictorial artwork (ink jet printed,
digital airbrush and electrostatic transfer images) that has been
applied to flexible vinyl. Aqua Clear Lock UV is designed to provide
abrasion, weather and ultraviolet resistance. It prevents color
degradation by reducing the effects of ultraviolet rays and weather. It
can also be used to protect traditional sign and graphic artwork and
paints that have been applied to flexible vinyl and other substrates.
Can be used directly on pictures, wall murals, portraits, and vinyl
graphics. Exhibits excellent adheasion to vinyl, wood, coated metals,
plastics and many other substrates. Do not use over Gold Leaf. Properly
applied it cures to a "water-white", non-yellowing finish. Will not
become tacky from plasticizer migration from vinyl substrates.
Non-Flammable, low odor. Available in matte or gloss.

Japan Colors
- Japan Colors
are finely ground, lead free, flat, quick drying, paste colors. This
traditional product has a wide range of graphic and professional artist
uses. Used by furniture and cabinet refinishers for a variety of
decorative applications. Used extensively by specialty painters and
scenic artists for aging, faux finishes, marbleizing and glazing. Used
to make stains or glazes for wet-in-wet techniques to create artistic
effects, including but not limited to, dirt, age, smoke damage and
simulated marble and wood grain. They are ideal toners for flat paints.
Also used for lettering, striping and stenciling. If using on exterior
surfaces consult our technical department for recommendations on
protective overcoats.

Japan Color Glazing Liquid
- Japan Color Alkyd Glazing Liquid
is a solvent based transparent color blending agent and wiping glaze.
It is designed to be mixed with Ronan Japan Colors, alkyd based paints
and many brands of machine universal colorants. Alkyd Glazing Liquid is
used extensively by furniture refinishers, specialty painters and scenic
artists to create a variety of decorative special effects i.e., faux
finish on walls, furniture, textured surfaces - virtually any type of
interior and exterior surface. Used for aging, marbleizing, antiquing,
wood graining, sponging, combing, marbling and rag rolling. Used to make
stains or glazes for wet-in-wet techniques to create artistic effects,
including but not limited to, dirt, age, smoke damage and simulated
marble and wood grain. Dry Time and Working Time will be affected by
variations in temperature, humidity and by the type and amount of
colorant added to glaze.

Aqua Leaf Clear Guard UV
- Aqua Leaf Clear Guard UV
is a durable, water-based, clear topcoat specially formulated for use
over Aqua Leaf™ when extra protection is desired or for use as a barrier
coat when Aquathane is used over Aqua Leaf™. It is also ideal for use
as a general-purpose interior/exterior clear. This UV inhibiting coating
is formulated for use where resistance to the effects of exposure to
sunlight and weather is a requirement. Dries to a flexible, weather
resistant finish. It helps prevent color degradation by reducing the
effects of harmful ultraviolet rays, which cause premature fading. Aqua
Leaf Clear Guard UV can also be mixed with Aqua Leaf™ to make glazes and
faux finishes. It can be mixed with Aqua Leaf™ (maximum ratio 2 parts
Aqua Leaf Clear Guard UV to 3 parts Aqua Leaf™) without affecting the
durability or light fastness of the final mixture. Non-Flammable,
non-toxic when cured, low odor. Available in gloss, satin and matte.

Ronan Acrylic Water Based Extenders
- Ronan Acrylic Water Based Extenders
are transparent, ultraviolet resistant color blending agents and wiping
glazes designed for use in creating interior decorative finishes. They
are formulated for use by furniture refinishers, specialty painters, and
scenic artists to create a variety of decorative special effects i.e.,
antiquing, wood graining, sponging, combing, marbling and rag rolling.
Intended for use as a faux paint finish on walls, furniture, art
projects, etc. Used to make stains for wet-in-wet techniques to create
artistic effects, including but not limited to dirt, age, smoke damage,
etc. They dry to a durable matte finish. They contain ultra violet
absorbers and therefore help prevent color fading on interior surfaces
that will be exposed to sun light (near doors, windows, etc). These
extenders are formulated to be mixed with most universal colorant
systems, such as DeGussa 888 colorants or equivalent. Ronan Aqua Cote
water based enamel and industrial based colorants, such as DeGussa 896
colorants. Use colorants with a high ph value (7.5 - 8.5). Ronan Acrylic
Water Based Extenders are available in three types Ultra, Deluxe, and
Long Set.
- Working Time:
Lab Testing Results - The following are results achieved in the T. J.
Ronan Lab over a sealed surface with 6 oz. of Huls 888 colorant added.
The actual working time will depend on temperature, humidity and the
type and amount of colorant used. Working Time and Recoat Time will be
longer under colder and/or more humid conditions and shorter under
warmer and/or less humid conditions. Working time will be shorter over a
surface that is not sealed. Coating can be removed with isopropyl
alcohol up to 2 hours after application.
Ultra Extender
1. - Ultra Extender is a high viscosity glaze and has the longest working time. For large jobs in warmer weather that require long open time.
- Test #1 - @ 70° F, 50% relative humidity, Working Time - 70 minutes
- Test #2 - @ 85° F. Working Time - 25 minutes.
- Allow minimum 36 hours curing time before applying clear top coat.
Deluxe Extender
2. - Deluxe Extender is similar to Ultra Extender in working time, but has a slightly thinner consistency.
- Allow minimum 36 hours curing time before applying clear top coat.
Long Set Extender
3. - Long Set Extender has the longest working time.
- Test #1 - @ 70° F, 50% relative humidity, Working Time - 2 hours
- Test #2 - @ 85° F. Working Time - 45 minutes.
- Allow minimum 48 hours curing time before applying clear top coat.
- Test temperature was maintained for an 8-hour period.
IMPORTANT!!
Before using clear top coats perform a patch test 1.) to test adhesion
2.) to determine if the clear causes any cracking or lifting of the
surface coating and 3.) to determine that the clear gives the desired
finish (It is especially important to test for clarity over dark
colors). Before using any of the products recommended read the technical
data sheet on those products.
Decorators Varnish

is a unique, polymeric waterborne, low viscosity, ultra violet
resistant, clear topcoat designed to protect decorative materials when
extra protection is desired on interior or exterior surfaces (2 coats
recommended for exterior use). Dries to a flexible, weather resistant
finish. It helps prevent color degradation by reducing the effects of
harmful ultraviolet rays which cause premature fading. Formulated for
use over decorative paint work (faux designs, murals, etc.) on a variety
of different painted substrates (see Precautions on Technical data
sheet) ( vinyl, wood, metal, plaster, glass, plastic and many
synthetics). Ideal for use over wallpaper, stone, brick and fabrics.
Contains ultra violet absorbers and therefore can be used to top coat
interior surfaces (murals, etc.) that will be exposed to sun light (near
doors, windows, etc). Cures to a non-yellowing finish and therefore can
be used directly on pictures, murals, portraits. Non-Flammable,
non-toxic when cured, low odor.
- Available in Dead Flat, Satin and Gloss finishes.
- Dry Time:
@70° F; 50 % Relative Humidity; Dries to touch - 45 minutes - 1 hour;
to handle: 2 1/2 hours: to re-coat - 4 hours; Dry hard - 8 hours. Full
Cure - 72 hours. Will take longer to dry under cooler and more humid
conditions. The long re-coat time is necessary to achieve optimum dead
flat finish.

Industrial Speednamel
- Industrial Speednamel is a high gloss, heavy duty, synthetic enamel designed for use on neon signs, backgrounds, trucks, steel structures and other surfaces where a superior, quick drying enamel is required. The tough, flexible, brilliant finish resists oils, grease, moisture, cold, heat, aliphatic solvents etc. making it ideal for use on machinery, equipment, walls, steel work in factories and plants or wherever a durable, high gloss coating is required. Ideal for use on equipment and rides in carnivals and amusement parks.
- Dry Time: @ 70 F; 50% Relative Humidity: Dries to touch - 30 minutes to 2 hours; to handle - 2 to 4 hours; to recoat - 6 to 8 hours. Full cure - 7 days. May take longer to dry under humid conditions.
- Application Methods: Brush, roller or spray.
Ron-Tech DTM Industrial Enamel
- Ron-Tech DTM Industrial Enamel is a unique waterborne, corrosion resistant, 100% acrylic gloss enamel formulated to provide direct-to-metal application. It is designed for use as a maintenance coating on properly prepared metal, wood, masonite, concrete and masonry surfaces. Ron-Tech DTM Industrial Enamel dries to a durable, flexible, weather resistant gloss finish. Exhibits excellent adhesion on difficult to adhere to metal surfaces, wood, masonite, concrete and masonry surfaces. Provides improved color retention, gloss retention, and chalk resistance when compared to alkyd industrial enamels.
