Mack Alan Johnson Signature Brush Size 4/0

Veteran pinstriper Alan Johnson signs his finished panels with this very brush, and the Size 4/0 carries the finest point of the family. Its blaze-orange handle is deliberate shop engineering: set it down on a car dash and you will spot it again in seconds. Under a nickel ferrule, thin golden taklon comes to a point that stays crisp stroke after stroke.

The Signature series runs on a full synthetic filament mixture, so the brush snaps back to shape, releases paint smoothly, and washes clean with little fuss. Reach for the 4/0 when the work demands a true hairline — signatures, monograms, and the smallest scroll flourishes. Detail painters keep it at the bench for marks that cannot afford to wobble.

Condition the filament the way you would any fine striping brush and store it ferrule-up between jobs. The 2/0 and Size 1 siblings step the line weight up when a panel calls for it, so the three together cover the whole signature range. Built 7.5 inches long by the Andrew Mack Brush Company.
