About this book

De Luxe Your Theatre and Make It Pay! Catalog No. 31, 1928. The National Theatre Supply Co. catalog of changeable letters and cast aluminum sign letters — back in print.

Movie palaces and vaudeville houses ran on changeable letters — the big readable aluminum letters that spelled out attractions on the marquee. This 1928 catalog sold them: cast aluminum sign letters, changeable letter systems, and the mounting hardware, all illustrated with prices.

It is a niche gem for the antique sign catalog collector and a design reference for anyone working with dimensional letters today — the letterforms are pure Jazz Age commercial style, the same bold sans and roman faces that defined the movie-palace era. 36 pages of marquee-era hardware, reproduced complete.

The catalog that lettered a thousand theatres.

Details: 6×9" paperback, 36 pages, black and white interior, cream paper.

⚠️ Please read before ordering — about print quality

This is a print-on-demand reprint of a scanned historical document. The pages were scanned from an original 1928 printing, and the print quality of your book reflects the condition of that original scan.

What that means in plain terms: you may see faded text, uneven inking, age spots, show-through from the back of pages, and other imperfections that were in the 1928 original or introduced by the scanning process. These are preserved as-is — they are not printing defects, and they are not something we can fix.

We are not responsible for the condition of the original source material. If you want a pristine modern typeset book, this isn't it. If you want the actual 1928 manual with all its character intact, you're in the right place.
