About this book

Stencils & Stencil Materials, Sherwin-Williams Co., 1910. The paint maker's stencil catalog — back in print.

Sherwin-Williams sold the paint, and this 1910 catalog sold the stencils to put it through: stencil designs and stencil materials from the biggest paint company in America, illustrated with prices. A 44-page piece of trade ephemera from the height of the stencil era, when ornamented walls and decorated storefronts were cut-pattern work.

For the stencil collector and the decorative painter, it is both a design book — period stencil patterns ready to be cut again — and a historical document of how the trade bought its ornament. Short, illustrated, and full of usable patterns from the Sherwin-Williams line.

The 1910 stencil catalog, reproduced complete.

Details: 6×9" paperback, 44 pages, black and white interior, cream paper.

⚠️ Please read before ordering — about print quality

This is a print-on-demand reprint of a scanned historical document. The pages were scanned from an original 1910 printing, and the print quality of your book reflects the condition of that original scan.

What that means in plain terms: you may see faded text, uneven inking, age spots, show-through from the back of pages, and other imperfections that were in the 1910 original or introduced by the scanning process. These are preserved as-is — they are not printing defects, and they are not something we can fix.

We are not responsible for the condition of the original source material. If you want a pristine modern typeset book, this isn't it. If you want the actual 1910 manual with all its character intact, you're in the right place.
