About this book

Spanjer Bros. Catalog S, 1927. A later catalog from the Newark sign makers — back in print.

By 1927 the sign trade was changing — new materials, new lettering fashions, a new commercial style — and this slim 22-page catalog captures Spanjer Bros. as they adapted. A compact piece of antique sign catalog history: the signs, the styles, and the prices of the late-1920s trade, reproduced from the original.

Short, scarce, and full of period sign designs that still read fresh today. For the sign painter's reference shelf or the ephemera collector's stack, Catalog S is the 1927 companion to the firm's 1909 wood-sign catalog — the trade a generation on.

An uncommon survival, reproduced complete.

⚠️ Please read before ordering — about print quality

This is a digital edition scanned from a historical document. The pages were scanned from an original 1927 printing, and the quality of your download reflects the condition of that original scan.

What that means in plain terms: you may see faded text, uneven inking, age spots, show-through from the back of pages, and other imperfections that were in the 1927 original or introduced by the scanning process. These are preserved as-is — they are not printing defects, and they are not something we can fix.

We are not responsible for the condition of the original source material. If you want a pristine modern typeset book, this isn't it. If you want the actual 1927 manual with all its character intact, you're in the right place.
