Alphabets Old and New (1906) by Lewis F. Day is the classic designer’s alphabet book — historical and modern letterforms with rich ornament plates that sign painters and decorative artists have mined for over a century. A reference-shelf essential for anyone who draws letters.

Inside this 1906 manual:

Lewis F. Day (1906) assembled Roman capitals and their derivatives as a designer’s toolkit — 250 pages to trace, adapt, and letter from. For lettering artists, sign painters, engravers, and calligraphers, it is a century-old idea file that never goes stale.
